Well better late than never,  but i finally got a chance to pick up the 2017 adidas pure boost. If you've been following the channel then you know i love boost. so much in fact i think every one should have at least one pair of boost something. So adidas went ahead a dropped their Updated Pure Boost model which is a slightly more affordable performance running shoe than the Ultra Boost.

You can pick up a pair of Pure Boost over at finishline.com for $140 with free shipping. They actually come in 5 color ways right now and I'm really digging that burgundy slash mystery red color way. and as always, my link is in the description below if you want to cop a pair. comment below and tell me which color way is your favorite.

Just like the ultra boost, the pure boost has a webbed outsole. But there are some slight differences. Unlike the Ultra Boost, this is NOT continental rubber. which means its not as sticky and id assume not as durable. But only time will tell. I did how ever notice the contact patches on the pure boost are much larger than on the ultra boost. and the outsole is slightly thicker if you really study it. The webbed outsole also wraps itself up the arch of the shoe, its supposed to help with arch support. But i didn't really feel a difference. Maybe they incorporated it because the pure boost doesn't have a torsion system like the Ultra boost.

Next up is the reason why I love adidas right now and its that Boost midsole. Just as you'd expect the pure boost are very comfortable to wear. But they are slightly less comfortable than the ultra boost. Midsole design on the pure boost is very different than the Ultraboost. it really bulges out every where on the shoe. Its very thick in the heel but then gets thinner in the fore foot area. which is great for power delivery if you decide to running these shoes. the fore foot of the shoe is also much wider than the fore foot of the ultra boost. another thing to notice is that you don't get an insole with the pure boost like you do with the ultra boost. instead you just get that felt lining like you do with NMD. I don't really mind honestly. If you do decide to pick up a pair you should go true to size.

Next up is the upper, instead of prime knit adidas used circle knit. the circle knit is much sturdier than prime knit. its also not as soft or flexible. But it is just as breathable. the prime knit on the ultra boost or NMD is much more comfortable than the circle knit on the pure boost, but its not a deal breaker what so ever. the heel counter on the pure boost is also much stiffer and has less padding but theres absolutely no heel slipping, which is good. the tongue on the pure is… uh different. adidas calls this a Burrito wrapped upper and its supposed to give the user a customizable fit but i don't really see how. once the shoe is on its on.

And finally we've got the laces. actually adidas was cool enough to give you two sets of laces instead of just one. they're both the same pattern but you get one round pair and a flat pair. I guess adidas knows if runners are going to wear these they're going to want flat laces while people who are just wearing these shoes casually wouldn't mind round laces. Unlike the laces on the NMD r2, which just weave through the prime knit, the pure boost actually uses eye loops instead. theres also an extra eye loop if you want a more secure fit and better lock down for running.

Over all the adidas pure boost is a slightly more affordable and performance focused shoe compared to the ultra boost. the $140 price tag does mean theres a slight trade off when it comes to the out sole, and a slightly less comfortable upper. the circle knit upper on the pure boost does a better job of keeping your feet warm when its windy outside compared to the ultra boost and the wider forefoot is great for power delivery. Overall the pure boost is a great training and everyday wear shoe. Im probably going to end up getting a pair of red ones too.
