Are The Sony 1000XM4 About To Release?

See this gallery in the original post

So on December 15th 2019 a filling for the WH-1000XM4’s hit the FCC. So naturally everybody is speculating that the Sony 1000XM4’s are right around the corner. But I still maintain that the Sony 1000XM4’s are still a few months out and I still don’t think that we’ll see them at CES 2020 for a few reasons. First off it is common practice for companies to register up coming products months in advance with the FCC before they’re released. And I’ll use some recent products as an example.

First off, the WH-1000XM3’s were registered on May 29 2018 but weren’t released until Late August 2018. There’s the WF-1000XM3’s which were registered with the FCC on march 27th 2019 but weren’t released until July 2019. Then there’s the WH-XB900N which were registered on March 13th 2019 but we’re released until late June 2019. And then there’s the WH-H910N AKA the H.ear on 3’s which were registered on August 8th 2019, announced at IFA 2019 which took place in September… and we’re still waiting for them to be released in the states.

So like I said, I don’t think the Sony 1000XM4’s are right around the corner but maybe they’ll be released a little sooner in the Spring instead of in September 2020 like I said in my last video. Now personally I do think that its unlikely that we’ll see the 1000XM4’s at CES 2020 cause for the last few years Sony has focused more on their speakers at CES rather than on their Headphones. But maybe that could change.

But there are some other interesting fillings here. Sony has registered a new product called the WF-XB700’s. WF stands for Wireless freedom, AKA truly wireless earbuds, and XB stands for Extra Bass. So maybe sony is going to be releasing a pair of Extra Bass truly wireless earbuds which could retail for around $150 of less cause the 700 in their name means that these are a mid tier product.

Then there’s also the WF-SP800N which are more than likely going to be the replacement to the Sony WF-SP700N sports wireless earbuds which I wasn’t really a big fan of. But given at how good the WF-1000XM3’s I do have high hopes for these newer ear buds. But I also want to quickly remind everyone about the WF-H800’s AKA the H.ear In 3’s which we’re also still waiting on.

But over all, obviously the Sony 1000XM4’s are on the way. And this FCC filling is the first tangible leak about the 1000XM4’s. Given that these headphones are being registered now I think we could expect the Sony 1000XM4’s in Spring 2020. Maybe April. But if you’re looking for a pair of ANC headphones and you’re thinking about picking up the 1000XM3, then I would feel comfortable doing so at their $278 price point. Even if the 1000XM4’s are released in a few months, the 1000XM3’s are still easily one of the top 3 ANC Headphones out there if active noise cancellation is your main priority.
