The new pixel buds are great, and I really like them specifically cause they feel very premium for a pair of earbuds in this price range. But if you’re an android user you have plenty of other truly wireless earbuds to choose from in the same price range which do have their own pros and cons. But for today lets see how the Pixel Buds stack up to the Galaxy Buds plus and Jabra Elite 75T’s which are two very popular earbuds for android users to choose from. 

Now price wise both the Pixel Buds and Jabra Elite 75T’s retail for $180 where as the Galaxy Buds Plus retail for $150. That a 30 savings which could be a big deal for some people. Now like I mentioned at the top of this video, one of the biggest reasons why I like the pixel buds so much is cause they feel very premium for wireless earbuds in general. The case it self has this slight soft touch feel to it so it kind of feels like you’re holding a pebble in your hand and the way this lid snaps open and close just feels very satisfying. And also this carrying case has some really strong magnets on it so these earbuds just snap back in when you’re going to put them away. Where as these other two earbuds don’t feel as premium cause they have these gloss plastic carrying cases… their lids don’t snap open and their magnets are relatively weak compared to the pixel buds. So the way these other two earbuds feel in your hand just don’t feel as satisfying as the pixel buds do. Now I know all of this is subjective… but like I said in the Pixel Buds full review… there’s just about having a pair of premium feeling earbuds to match your premium feeling phone that just feels nice. But from a practicality standpoint, all of these earbuds have very small and rounded carrying cases, so all of these cases slip in and out of your pocket very easily and you barely notice them when they’re in your pocket. Which is very important for everyday carry wireless earbuds. 

Now when it comes to battery life, all of these earbud have decent battery live for earbuds in 2020. The Galaxy Buds Plus have a combined battery life of 22 hours, the pixel buds have a combined battery life of 24 hours and the Jabra’s have a combined battery life of 28 hours. And all of these earbuds charge via a USB C port. So you can charge your phone and earbuds with the same cable. 

But it is very important to point out that both the Galaxy buds plus and Pixel Buds have wireless charging where as the Jabra’s don’t. Now if you have a phone that supports power sharing then wireless charging on your earbuds is a big deal cause you can charge you earbuds with your phone if you forget to charge your earbuds. 

Now when it comes to fit, all three of these earbuds fit relatively the same. They’re are all in ear ear buds with a standard in ear ear bud fit. They aren’t shallow fitting like the AirPods Pro which just rest at the edge of your ear canal, and they also don’t go in super deep into your ear canal like the WF-1000XM3’s do which personally im not a fan of cause they do feel very uncomfortable when they’re all up in there. For me all there of these earbuds fit fine but the major difference between them are their ear fins. The Jabra’s don’t have ear fins but personally I don’t really miss them cause I don’t really have a problem with them falling out. Where as the pixel buds do have ear fins but they aren’t removable. Even though they do help, sometimes to do wish I could remove them and ive actually contemplated cutting them off cause you can somewhat feel them. And then there’s the Galaxy Buds which do have removable ear fins but since even the largest ear fins are relatively small they might not be effective for everybody. Regardless all of these earbuds fit me just fine but if you need ear fins then the galaxy buds are your best bet. 

Now when it comes to bluetooth connectivity… all three of these earbuds have zero latency across the board when it comes watching movies of videos on your phone which is good. But when it comes to their setups, both the Pixel Buds and Galaxy Buds earbuds each establish a connection with your phone. So if you just want to use one earbud at a time you can use either one. It doesn’t matter. 

Where as the Jabra’s are using a hero and side kick set up. So one earbud, in this case the right earbud establishes a connection with your phone and then relays that connection to the left ear bud. Which means if you just want to use one earbud at a time you gotta use the correct earbud. In this case the right earbud. 

But one advantage the Jabra’s have over these other two earbuds is that they can be connected to any two devices at the same time. So you can easily hot swap from one device to another, which could be a big deal for some power users out there.

Now when it comes to listening to music with these earbuds, first off I gotta point out that the pixel buds are the only earbud here that don’t have an adjustable EQ. So you’re stuck with their stock EQ. But personally I don’t think thats a problem cause I think these earbuds are going to please most people. They put a slight emphasis on the mids so vocals are a little pronounced and these earbuds also have a decent amount of bass to them. Where as the Galaxy buds do have a very different EQ settings to choose from. But personally I think these earbuds sound best when they’re set to their clear EQ. With their clear EQ the Galaxy Buds sound similar to the pixel buds but they put a little more emphasis on the mids so vocals are a little more pronounced. So I think these ear buds are good for people who like a more neutral or brighter sound signature. And then there’s the Jabra’s which have a fully customizable EQ so you can make them sound how ever you want. But the standout characteristic about these earbuds is their bass. If you like a lot of bass in your music then these earbud have way more bass than these other two earbuds. So Pixel Buds should please most people, the Galaxy Buds are better for people who like a neutral or a brighter sound signature and the Jabra’s are better for people who like a warmer sound signature cause they like a lot of bass. 

Now when it comes to controlling your music… the Jabra’s are the only earbuds here with physical buttons. You can tap, double tap and triple tap to play, pause, and skip through your music and you can press and hold on these earbuds to raise or lower your volume among other things. So if you don’t want to mess around with touchpad then the Jabra’s are the way to go. Cause these other two earbuds are using touch pads. You have full control over your music with these earbuds, but I have found that the Pixel Bud’s touch pads are much more accurate than the Galaxy Buds touch pads. Even though the galaxy buds touch pads are decent they can be a little finicky and get over excited sometimes and some other times they miss inputs. Where as with the Pixel Buds… they rarely miss any inputs and what I really like about them is that you can raise or lower you volume by swiping on these touch pads. 

But something that is completely missing on the Pixel Buds that these other two earbuds do have is an ambient mode. With these other two earbuds you can have them pump in some ov the ambient sound around you so that you can still be aware of your surroundings when you’re walking around the city or if you’re watching rewatching Avatar The Last Airbender on Netflix you can still hear your name when someone calls you. But when it comes to comparing the ambient modes between the Galaxy buds and Jabra’s… I gotta say the ambient mode on the Galaxy Buds has been greatly improved since the last time I talked about them in a video. The ambient mode on the Galaxy Buds sound way more natural now, they don’t have any hissing in the back ground, and they do a really good job of blocking out wind noise when walking out doors now. Cause even though the ambient mode on the Jabra’s is decent too… the main problem with them is that if you raise them past 50% they start to develop a hissing in the background which is very noticeable whenever you’re watching videos with these earbuds.

But something the Pixel Buds does have over these other two earbuds is that they have Hey Google support. So you can just be like Hey google and just start talking. Where as with these two other earbuds you gotta activate your voice assistant by pressing and holding on their touch pads. 

But finally here’s the microphone test, now we’re going to be doing things a little differently here cause I want to show off what kind of a job these earbuds do when it comes to isolating just your voice. Now I have this AC unit turned on and you can clearly here it through the Jarba’s.

Where as the Galaxy Buds do an oaky job of blocking out that AC unit, but you can still hear something in the background. 

But then there’s the Pixel Buds which manage to completely block out that AC unit which I think is very impressive. Cause if we were to switch to my lapel mic you can clearly hear that AC unit. But when we switch back to the Pixel buds is gone. And over all I do think the Pixel Buds have the best sounding microphone here for phone calls. 

So over all, when it comes to choosing between the earbuds they each have their pros and cons. The Jabra’s can be connected to any two devices at the same time which is could be important for some power users out there, they have the most amount of bass to them, the have physical control buttons and they have an ambient mode. But they don’t have the best ambient mode here and they also don’t have wireless charging. Now the Galaxy Buds are the cheapest earbuds here and they also have the best ambient mode here, they have wireless charging, and if you like a neutral sound signature then these are a good option. But the galaxy Buds are the cheapest feeling earbuds here and their touch pads aren’t my favorite. And finally theres the pixel buds which just have the best build quality here which I really like, they have wireless charging, they sound decent, their microphone is very impressive, they have really accurate touch pads and hey google support is great. But the lack of an ambient mode on these earbuds is a really big deal and for me it can be a deal breaker. So I think the safe and logical answer here would be to go with the Galaxy Buds Plus cause these are a pair of full featured earbuds… and if you like more bass to your music then you’ll might want to go for the Jabra’s. But if you are willing to forgo an ambient mode on the pixel buds then they won’t disappoint. And for me personally I think im still going to be using the pixel buds. But for right now I think its crucial that google add and ambient mode to the Pixel Buds through a software update soon.
