Steelseries Arctis 1 Wireless For Xbox Review

I love the Steelseries Arctis 1 gaming headset. If you’re a casual player like me just looking for a gaming headset then I don’t think that you can go wrong with the Arctis 1. But today we’re actually going to be focusing on the newest Arctis 1… the Arctis 1 Wireless for Xbox. And if you’re an Xbox gamer like me… then this headset is a pretty big deal.

Now so that there isn’t any confusion… there are a few different Arctis 1’s to choose from. There’s your standard Arctis 1 that strictly uses a wired connection that retails for 50 bucks and you can use them with any gaming console or PC that has an audio jack. But then there are the Arctis 1 wireless that came out a few months ago that come included with a USB C transmitter that you can plug into either a Playstation, switch, pc, or even an android device and use your headset wirelessly. But unfortunately the original Acrtis 1 wireless don’t work with Xbox cause Xbox uses their own wireless protocol. So with the original Arctis 1 wireless you would have to plug them into your xbox controller. Making them not wireless.

But now we have the new Arctis 1 wireless for Xbox that supports Xbox’s proprietary wireless protocol so you can use this headset wirelessly with your Xbox One and even the Upcoming Xbox Series X… But you can also still use this headset wirelessly with a PlayStation, Nintendo Switch, PC or even an android device. And just like the original Arctis 1 wireless… the new Arctis 1 Wireless for xbox retails for a 100 bucks. So if you want to pick up the Arctis 1 Wireless for Xbox it’ll be linked down below.

Now when it comes to the headset themselves… the new Arctis 1 wireless for Xbox are identical to the original Arctis 1 wireless. These headphones are mostly made out of plastic and they have a steel headband. But more importantly, these headphones have great build quality and they feel very sturdy in the hand.

Now when it comes to over all comfort you can easily game with this headset for hours on end. First off the ear pads on this headset are very spacious so they’re going to have no problem accommodating most ear types. But also since the ear pads on these headphones are fabric, extremely breathable and since they have so little content area when pressed up against your head… they barley heat up. Which is awesome.

The only thing that I do want to point out about this headset is that out the box they do fit very tight. Which was the same thing with my first pair of Arctis wireless. So you definitely want to give this headset a good stretch and a little bit of a breaking in period. But then after that ive found that this headset fits great and rests very naturally on your head. And since this headset weighs in at XXX grams… its very easy to forget that you have them on.

Now when it comes to tech specs, again the New Arctis 1 wireless are identical to the Original Arctis 1 wireless. They have a battery life of 20 hours and they charge via a micro USB port. And ive actually noticed that these headphones charge up very quickly from zero to one hundred. Now usually I would say I would like to have seen a USB C port here. But since Xbox one controllers charge via a micro usb port… having a micro usb port on the Arctis 1 is a little more convenient here.

But if your headset ever runs out of battery in a middle of a match you can always just quickly plug them into your controller or pc through their audio jack.

But now lets talk about the transmitter cause this is actually what’s really new here. First off this transmitter is a little bigger than the original transmitter… but more importantly there’s now a switch on the top that has either an Xbox mode or a USB mode. Now obviously if you’re going to use this with an Xbox you’re going to want to this set to Xbox mode… but if you’re going to use any other device you want to set it to USB.

Now you can plug this transmitter directly into any android device that has a USB C port, a Nintendo switch or PC… but along side the audio cable and charging cable that comes included with this headset you also get a USB C to port to USB A cable. And this is what you use to connect the transmitter either to your gaming console or PC that doesn’t have a USB C port.

Now when it comes to performance… I gotta say ive been using this headset for the last 2 weeks and ive had zero connectivity issues. This headset pairs flawlessly everytime I power up my xbox, there’s no perceivable latency, and this wireless connection never cuts out. Its literally just plug and play.

Now when it comes to sound quality, these headphones get loud enough. They don’t get super loud like some other headsets out there. But they get more than loud enough to get the job done. Now out fo the box these headphones sound good… but you can always just go into steelseries’s software and change how these headphones sound. If you want a more bass heavy EQ so that you can feel explosions and make your gaming more fun you can do that. Or if you want to up the mids and highs so you can better hear foot steps or people reloading you can also do that.

Now you can also adjust the mic volume and side tone on these headphones… but one feature that I do want to point out here is the Dynamic Range Compression. This is the feature that you want to use to help avoid from going deaf if you’re caught in a close quarter gun fight. Personally I keep mine on low… but this feature really is handy.

But now I want to make something perfectly clear. Even though yes you can use these headphones with your phone and listen to music with them… you can only pair with your phone if you plug in the transmitter. The headset it self can not be paired to your phone like a normal pair of headphones.

And personally for me I really wouldn’t use this headset with my phone cause number one if you lose or break this transmitter while you’re out and about you’re really going to be in trouble. And also I wouldn’t really game on my phone with this transmitter either cause it is a little large and it makes holding your phone a little award.

So over all, like I said at the beginning of this video I love the steel series Artcis 1 wireless. And I really don’t have anything bad to say about them. For $100 bucks you really can’t go wrong with these. The Arctis 1 have great build quality, but more importantly you can wear them for hours on end because they have very breathable fabric ear pads that keep your ears cool, they’re very light weight and they rest very naturally on your head. The only thing is you gotta give them a good stretch when you first get them.

They have a decent 20 hour battery life so they should be able to go for multiple gaming sessions on a single charge… but I've also found that they charge up very quickly. And through steel series software you can adjust how this headset sounds to you liking.

But more importantly the wireless connectivity on this headset is flawless. Theres no perceivable latency and they never cut out. And don’t let the name fool you. Even though these are the Arctis 1 wireless for Xbox… they still work with playstation, Nintendo Switch, PC, or even android device. If you’re a causal gamer, or a gamer on a budget. You can’t go wrong with these.
