So these are the Soundcore C40i clip on earbuds, so you’re always going to be able to hear your surroundings and they are super comfortable cause they dont actually go into your ear canals… and even though these do have a clip design to them, they’re still very comfortable cause they are surprisingly light weight. So if you’re looking for sleek looking open earbuds maybe for working out while outdoors, or maybe your job requires you to always have open ears, lets see what the Soundcore C40i’s are all about.

So first lets talk about the fit of these earbuds cause they dont fit like your standard earbuds that you might be used to and their fit is their main selling point. Now the C40i’s rest in the bowl of your ears, very similar to your normal earbuds. But unlike your standard pair of earbuds, the C40i’s dont create a seal with your canal, and instead they are pushed back a little bit. So these are less like earbuds and more like little mini speakers that you place on your ears. So as a result, you’re still going to be able to hear everything around you. And being able to always be aware of your surroundings is going to be great for someone who might be looking for earbuds to workout with while out doors, maybe you’re a cycler, or a hiker, or maybe you’re just walking your dog. And you can workout with these earbuds and not worry about them getting sweaty cause they do have an IPX4 rating. Meaning that some water isn’t going to hurt them. Or open earbuds like these can also be good for someone that works in retail, in a warehouse, or as a driver and you need to always be aware of your surroundings. But nonetheless, since these earbuds rest in the bowl of your earbuds, they’re super unobtrusive unlike in ear earbuds and they are less unobtrusive than normal earbuds. And to keep them in place, these earbuds wrap around your ear cartilage. Now the neck on these earbuds are very flexible and they should be able to fit most ear types… but also, they do come included with additional ear grips which is going to allow you to customize their fit. And these additional ear grips are very easy to use, they just slip right on and off. But also, these earbuds are very comfortable thanks to their super light weight of just XX per ear. So even when you’re walking around with these earbuds on they aren’t all that noticeable and their clip design does a great job of keeping them in place.

And then theres their case. Now tis is a decently sized clam shell case that isn’t super noticeable while its in your pocket. The lid opens and closes very easily. I like that the lid springs open and closed… the case is also big enough to accommodate these earbuds even if they have their additional ear grips attached, and I really like the strong magnets in this case which do a really good job of grabbing onto these earbuds which means its super easy to take these earbuds out of their case and super easy to put them away cause they just automatically drop in. And just as you’d expect, this cases charges via a USB C port as it should.

And when it comes to battery life, these earbuds have a combined advertised battery life of 21 hours. The earbuds themselves can go for 7 straight hours… giving them good stamina so they should be able to keep up with you during a whole workout, or they can keep up with you during a whole work shift… and the case can supply 2 additional full charges.

And when it comes to connectivity, each earbud establishes a connection with your phone. So if you just want to use one earbud at a time, you can use either one it doesn’t matter. Also these earbuds can be connected to any two bluetooth devices at the same time, regardless of eco system, which is good if you’re a power user cause you can easily hot swap from an iPhone to a windows pc. Latency is also not an issue for these earbuds so you can use them to watch videos with on your phone… and when it comes to audio codecs, they have support for SBC and AAC.

But now lets talk about actually listening to music with these earbuds. Now the C40i’s are rocking a 12 millimeter by 17 millimeter race track driver, which means a few things. Now these drivers a pretty big for earbuds and more importantly these earbuds get more than loud enough to where you can hear your music over any noise pollution that is around you. Or you can lower the volume and have a mix of your music and surroundings. But also, since these earbuds have such big drivers, they also deliver an impressive amount of bass, so much bass that they can rattle your ears a little bit. Now since these are ope earbuds, details in the instrumentals aren’t going to be that great just cause of their form factor… but the bass and vocals on these earbuds are very well pronounced. And through Soundcore’s app you can also go and select from a few premade EQ’s or you can make your own. Now Soundcore’s signature app sounds very balanced… but with these I actually like to use their bass boost EQ cause it helps these earbuds sound fuller and its more fun.

And when it comes to the media controls on these earbuds, these have a physical button on the back. And the good thing here is, since this button is very easy to press, you’re not pinching your ears when you press these buttons. But from here you can play and pause your music, you can skip through your music, you can answer or reject calls and you can also adjust your volume. But also through soundcore’s app you can customize this button layout. Just keep in mind that these earbuds dont have wear sensors, so they won’t automatically play or pause your music you take them off or put them on.

But finally heres the microphone test… and soundcore’s mic’s with AI actually sound very good. While in a quiet room my voice sounds very clear.

But also, this microphone does a really good job of dealing with noise pollution, cause right now this mic is doing a really good job of dealing with all of this road noise. Cause for comparison sake, if we were to switch over to my lapel microphone, you’re going to clearly hear all of this road noise, but if we switch back over to the souncore C40i, it is severely reduced.

And its the same thing when it comes to blocking out chatter, this mic does a really good job of dealing with all of this noise pollution. Cause again, if we were to switch over to my lapel microphone, you’re going to clearly hear all of this chatter, but if we were to switch over to the soundcore C40i, it is severely reduced. So overall, these open earbuds have a really good sounding min on them and you can get away with a good amount of noise pollution.

But with all of that being said, the souncore C40i’s are a solid pair of of clip on open earbuds. Thanks to their design you will always be aware of your surroundings which can be good if you want to exercise while outdoors or if you’re at work. These earbus are also very comfortable to wear for multiple hours on end, and thanks to their super light weight, they are easy to forget that your wearing them. These earbuds also sound good and they have a lot of bass which can be fun. And these earbuds have a great performing microphone that block out a good amount of noise pollution.
