So these are the Soundcore Space One Pro, now Soundcore’s headphones have always done an amazing job of packing a lot of premium features into headphones that aren’t going to break the bank. And just like the Soundcore Space Q45’s, the Space One Pro’s are a great budget option for any frequent flier cause these block out a lot of noise. So if you’re thinking about picking up the Soundcore Space One Pro, or if you’re thinking about upgrading from the Space Q45’s, lets see what the Space One Pro’s are all about.

Regarding pricing, the Space One Pro have a retail price of $200, not bad but the have gotten a $50 price increase from the Q45’s and their retail price. Nonetheless the Space One Pro give you a very big bang for your buck so if you want to pick these headphones up they’ll be linked down below or you can always press on the YouTube shopping button.

So first theres the case, unfortunately this is an area where these headphones have regressed compared to its predecessor, and the rest of the market really. Now the Space One Pro come with a carrying pouch, where as the Q45’s have a hardshell and in general mid tier ANC headphones like these mostly all come with hard shell cases. So with the Space One Pro, their carrying pouch isn’t going to keep them as well protected as a hard shell carrying case. So if you plan on traveling a lot with your headphones, I do recommend that you invest in a hardshell case.

But this is one of the positive things about these headphones, they’re fully collapsable and their ear cups rotate 180 degrees, so that means these headphones can get very small but more importantly these headphones can fit in almost any third party hardshell carrying case. Now when it come to the build quality of these headphones, its decent, and I do feel that the build quality on the Space One Pro has been improved from the Q45… but the Space One Pro’s still feel like Soundcore sacrificed a little bit on build quality but they used those savings for more features. Overall, the Space One Pro feel sturdy, but I personally really dont like how lose these these headband arms are they constantly spring open and closed… and the leatherette on these headphones feels very synthetic and plastic. But overall, I do prefer the sleeker and slimmer design on the Space One Pro over the Q45’s bulkier design which is very reminiscent to the Sony 1000XM2’s.

Now when it comes to overall fit, the Space One Pro fit well, but they do have a slightly firmer fit to them. They aren’t squeezing your head and they are big head approved, but due to their firmer fit and slim design, they might be a good option for the gym. And personally I prefer the slightly firmer fit on the Space One Pro Over the Space Q45, cause with the Space Q45’s, these feel so lose, they feel like they can fall off at times. But another thing that has been improved on the Space One Pro over the Q45’s is the weight. The Q45’s weigh in at 297 grams, which isn’t awful but it is a little above average for ANC headphones which weigh in at around 270 grams. Where as with the Space One Pro, these weigh in at 283, still a little above average, but an improvement over the Q45’s nonetheless. So when it comes to walking around with these headphones, you dont feel them shifting around too much when you’re walking around with them on and they are fairly easy enough to forget that you’re wearing them when you’re sitting at your desk or while in bed. And then there are the ear pads on these headphones, the earpads on the Space One Pro are have a big diameter to them just like the Q45’s, however I cant help but feel that the ear pads on the Space One Pro aren’t as spacious as the earpads on the Q45’s cause they’re a little more shallow, cause even my normal sized ears that dont stick out a lot feel like they are being pressed down a little bit. So overall, the earpads on the Space One Pro should fit most people just fine, but if you have larger ears or ears that stick out a lot, then you’d might want to go with something else. But also, another thing about the ear pads on these headphones, its slightly stiffer, so these earpads do create a slight suction when you put them on… but also, since this padding is slightly stiff, it can collect heat a little faster. So if you plan on commuting with these headphones then your ear pads might heat up a little bit. But overall, the Space One Pro have improved build build quality from their predecessor, they’re a little more durable and they have a much sleeker design to them which I personally really appreciate. However, the Space One Pro’s still feel like soundcore took some cost cutting measures on the build quality in order to use that budget for features, these headphones feel good, but the super synthetic feeling leatherette on these headphones constantly reminds you that compromises were made.

But compromises were not made when it comes to tech specs, the Space One Pro have an advertised battery life of 40 hours with their ANC turned on which is above average, and with their ANC turned off they can go for as long as 60 Hours. And the battery life numbers on the Q45’s are very similar, coming in at 40 and 55 hours respectively, but the Space One Pro’s manage to keep this impressive battery life while have a sleeker design to them.

And when it comes to chargning these headphones, they charge via a a USB C port as they should, and when it comes to fast charging numbers, if you charge these headphones up for 5 minutes from a dead battery, they are going to get you 8 hours of playback time. However, you can not use these headphones while they are charging, and you also cant use the USB C port on the Space one Pro as a wired connection.

But the Space One Pro still has a 3.5 millimeter audio jack so you can still use them with a wired connection, and they come included with an audio cable. And you can use these headphones with a wired connection either while they are powered on or passively.

But when it comes to bluetooth connectivity, the Space One Pro are using bluetooth 5.3 but more importantly, these headphones can be connected to any two devices regardless of eco system so you can easily hot swap from one device to another, which is great if you have an iPhone and a windows pc.

And when it comes to overall performance, these headphones have zero latency across the board when watching movies or videos on your phone whether you’re using an iPhone or an android device and when it comes to audio codecs, this is another area where soundcore spent their money cause these have support for SBC, AAC and LDAC which is Sony’s high res audio codec. Just keep in mind, if you want to use LDAC you do have to be an android user cause iPhones top out a AAC, LDAC is also going to take an additional toll on the battery and you’ll only be able to be connected to one device at a time.

But now lets talk about actually liesnting to music with these headphones cause these headphones sound very different from one another. Now with both of these headphones you can go in and either choose from a few premade EQ’s or you can make your own. But then it comes to the overall performance of these headphones, simply put, the Space One Pro have a lot more resonance in their bass, its not even funny, and the highs sound a lot more natural than on the Q45’s cause with the Q45’s the highs on these headphones sound a little tinny. And due to the Q45’s lack of bass compared to the Space One Pro, the Space Q45’s sounded very bright and flat by comparison. But now the Space One Pro are very bass heavy, now the bass on these headphones isn’t going to kick or rattle your head all that much, but it does resonate a lot. Now I think its great and all that these headphones have more bass and their highs sound better, but the instrument separation on the Space One Pro isn’t the best. So these headphones can sound a little narrow and you’re going to mainly hear the bass and vocals cause the instrumentals can get lost. Overall, I think the Space One Pro sound better than the Space Q45, but I would mainly recommend these to someone that likes a bass heavy sound signature.

And when it comes to the media controls on these headphones, just like the Q45’s the Space One Pro are using physical buttons and these buttons are very easy to find, they’re easy to tell apart and they have a very nice click to them. The only thing is, I dont like that these are the type that you have to press and hold on the volume buttons to skip through your music, but that’s just me. And you also cant change this through the controls settings on these headphones, however you can make it so that double pressing on the NC button allows you to quickly toggle BassUp on and off.

But something that I do find odd about the Space One Pro’s is that they dont have wear sensors like the Space One’s. Now personally I dont mind not having wear sensors on these headphones cause I usually just turn them off, but I did expect to see them here.

But then theres the active noise cancelation on these headphones. Just like the Space One Q45’s, the Space One Pro’s block out a lot of road noise, making them a great option for frequent commuters. But so that you can see for yourself, we’re going to jump into the ANC Test.

ANC Test

So like you may have just seen, the Space One Pro do a slightly better job of blocking out more lower frequency sounds like road noise than the Space Q45’s cause they are doing a better job of blocking out noise at the higher end. And the Space One Pro do a better job of blocking out chatter. However, that thing about the Space One Pro that dont make them feel as premium as the Sony 1000XM5’s is that they have a little more cabin pressure than the Sony 1000XM5’s. Now the cabin pressure on the Space One Pro is not a problem what so ever… but if you were to go with a more premium pair of ANC headphones like the Sony 1000XM5’s, they going to block out more noise while having less cabin pressure or pressure on your ear drums which is just going to lead to better overall comfort. But nonetheless, just like the Space Q45’s the Space One Pro are a great option for commuters cause they do a great job of blocking out low frequency sounds like road noise and they do a slightly better job of blocking out chatter than the Q45’s… but overall the performance difference between these two headphones isn’t huge.

Now when it comes to the ambient mode on these headphones, the ambient mode actually sounds more natural than the ambient mode on the Q45’s and this microphone array does a really good job of blocking out wind noise when walking out doors. But the main critique that I have about this ambient mode is that it is clearly trying to block out unwanted noise like road noise, so I feel that when you use these headphones outdoors they can sound a little muffled, but when used indoors they sound great. And through Soundcore’s app you can also adjust how much noise these headphones let in and you can also adjust how much noise these headphones block out. But again just like with the ANC on these headphones, its good but more premium headphones execute a little better on these features. But then theres easy chat which works a little like this.

Easy chat demo

So easy chat is just like Sony’s speak to chat which you can find on their more premium ANC headphones like the XM4’s and XM5’s. Just like with speak to chat when it first came out, easy chat is very easy to accidentally activate, and also since you cant manually cancel easy chat, you have to wait the full 5 or 10 or 15 seconds for your headphones to go back to normal. So easy chat is a feature that I personally dont use.

And strangely enough, the Space One Pro’s dont have a conversation mode where if you fully cover the left ear cup they’ll automatically lower the volume of your music and let in all of the ambient sound so that you can talk to someone without having to remove your headphones. And when you let go, they’ll go back to normal again. And I say that this is strange cause the Space One’s do have this feature and I prefer a conversation mode over the Easy Chat feature.

Mic Q45 Quiet Room

But finally heres the microphone test, and this is an area where the Space one Pro have gotten a major upgrade over the Q45’s.

Mic Pro Quiet

Cause with the Soundcore Space One Pro, these do a much better job of focusing on my voice while in a quiet room.

Mic Pro Road Noise

And when it comes to blocking out chatter, the Soudncore Space One pro do a decent job of blocking out this noise pollution, cause for comparison sake, if we were to switch over to my lapel microphone, you’re going to clearly hear all of this road noise, but if we were to switch back over to the Soundcore Space One Pro, it is reduced and theres minimal interference.

Mic Q45 road noise

Where as with the Space Q45’s these really struggle to reduce this road noise.

Mic Q45 Chatter

And the Q45’s also struggle to block out this chatter.

Mic pro Chatter

And the Soundcore Space One Pro also struggle to block out this chatter cause they really push your voice down.

Mic Pro Quiet

So, while in a quiet room the Soundcore Space One Pro have a good sounding microphone and it sounds a lot better than the microphone on the Space Q45’s, and the Space One Pro’s do a decent job of blocking out road noise, but when it comes to blocking out chatter, they can struggle quiet a bit.

But with all of that being said, the Soundcore Space One Pro are again great budget option for any commuter cause they block out a lot of road noise, they have a super long battery life, and they have a good sounding ambient mode. The Soundcore Space One Pro are also a lot more sturdy and better built than the Space Q45’s, they have a better sounding microphone to take phones calls with while in a quiet room, and even though they now have a bass heavy sound signature, I like the resonance in their bass and their highs sound more natural. But I do find it strange that these headphones dont come with a hardshell case, I think its strange that they dont have wear sensors like the Space One, and I think its strange that they dont have a conversation mode. The Space One Pro aren’t as Pro as id expect, but build quality wise, these are a big upgrade over the Q45’s.
