So this is the LG Soundbar S95QR, its a very capable home theater system all on its own and it delivers 810 watts of power through its 9.1.5 channel setup… but its an even better companion for your LG TV, cause thanks to WOW Orchestra, your LG tv’s built in speakers and your LG soundbar will work together… giving you an even better and more immersive listening experience when you watch your movies at home. So if you just got a new LG TV, lets see what the LG Sound S95QR is all about.
Now first I do want to thank LG for sponsoring this video. Now in this video we’re going to be taking a closer look at the LG Soundbar S95QR… now this is a soundbar that is compatible with any tv out there. But we’re also going to be talking about the enhanced experience that you get if you use this LG Soundbar with an LG TV… and today we’re going to be using the LG OLED Eco C3 TV. Nonetheless, if you want to pick the LG Soundbar S95QR up it’ll be linked down below, as well as the LG OLED Eco C3.
Now first lets talk about the design of this system… now the LG Soundbar S95QR is a fully built out home theater system… you get your soundbar, you also get an external subwoofer… and its wireless, so you can easily place it anywhere and you also get a pair of rear satellite speakers which are also wireless which makes placing theses speakers very easy as well. And thanks to the improved radios in the S95QR… these wireless speakers have a lot more range to them and skipping is not an issue. You only have to worry about wiring this subwoofer and satellite speakers to power. Now the design language of the soundbar its self is very similar to LG’s TVs as well… the S95QR has this brushed metal top on it, very similar to the brushed metal that you’ll find on the LG’s TVs… but this brushed metal does a really good job of not causing any reflections… and on the front there is a cloth facad, and there’s also a hidden screen on the front of this soundbar which automatically turns off when you’re done using it. Overall this entire home theater system does a really good job of disappearing when you’re watching a movie… which is what you want from your home theater system… but thanks to its brushed metal body and shared design language with LG’s TVs… the S95QR also looks very elegant even when its not in use.
But also, the LG Soundbar S95QR is a good system to consider cause this is actually a good soundbar for wall mounting. Now the S95QR does come included with a wall mounting kit… and you can also wall mount the rear speakers as well… but more importantly, the soundbar its self if fairly compact and light weight… and the soundbar itself and the rear speakers all plug in via an AC port… so you dont have to worry about hiding any external power bricks, which just makes wall mounting this system a lot easier.
Now when it comes to connectivity, the S95QR is actually very impressive. Now just as you’d expect, there is an HDMI EARC Port that connects to your TV’s EARC port… and the S95QR does come included with an HDMI Cable… but what’s really impressive is that the S95QR has 2 HDMI 2.1 ports… so you can plug in both your gaming console and DVD player to this soundbar and have everything going to your TV through just one port. Which helps make cable management super convenient. But also just in case you need it, there is an optical port… but for the best experience you do want to connect your soundbar to your TV via an HDMI port so that you can have support for higher quality audio codecs like Dolby ATMOS and DTS:X
Now regarding wireless connectivity, the S95QR has wifi support, but more importantly it has support for both AirPlay 2 and chrome cast, so whether you’re an iPhone user or an android user you can always stream music to this soundbar as long as you’re connected to the same wifi network… but also, you can use this soundbar as a smart speaker and you can use either your google assistant or Alexa…
But also, this soundbar does have bluetooth as well… now technically it is better to stream music to this soundbar by using either Airplay or Chrome Cast… but bluetooth is also a good option for when you want to share your soundbar with someone… but you dont want to share your wifi password. Or maybe you’re using this soundbar in an area where there isn’t any wifi.
But you should definitely connect the S95QR up to wifi so that you can use the Soundbar app because from here you can easily adjust the sound settings of your soundbar, you can also easily start the calibration process so that your sound is tuned for your room, and you can also switch between the different sources on the sound bar… However, if you were to use the S95QR with an LG TV… then you’ll might not even have to use the app, because all of your settings are easily accessible from the TV it self thanks to the WOW Interface. And personally I really like being able to quickly switch between the different EQ settings from the TV itself, all from the TV’s own Remote, because different content calls for different settings. If im going to watch music video ill might want to switch over to the Music with Meridian setting… or if im going to watch a movie ill with it over to Cinema, or if im watching something where the dialog is hard to hear, ill switch it over to clear voice pro. And again, being able to easily and quickly switch between the different sound profiles is very easy thanks to the WOW Interface which is something that you will only get if you use the S95QR with a compatible LG TV.
But even if you dont use the S95QR with an LG TV, or if you don't want to use the app… you can still easily adjust its settings by using the included remote and the built in screen on the front of the soundbar itself.
But with all of that out of the way, lets talk about sound. Now when it comes to speak set ups… the LG Soundbar S95QR is very impressive. First, the soudbar itself has a total of 8 drivers in it. There are 3 that shoot out the front…. There are 2 that shoot out of each side, and there are 3 that fire upwards for that true dolby atmos support. But then there are the rear speakers. Now each speaker has a pair of drivers that shoot out the front and slightly to the sides… and each speaker has an upwards firing driver that also helps with DOLBY atmos and gives your audio that sense of verticality. And finally, like I mentioned earlier… there is an external subwoofer that handles all of the bass. But now we’re going to jump into the sound test… Now we’re going to use the LG Soundbar S95QR all on its own and while its playing at 75% Volume. And this is to simulate using it with any tv. But since we do have an LG TV with our LG Soundbar, we’re going to use WOW Orchestra where the built in speakers in our TV will work together with our soundbar… and that’s going to be playing at 75% Volume. And finally, we’re also going to use the built in speakers in out LG OLED Eco C3 all by themselves… nut they’re going to be playing at max volume so that they can keep up.
So first off, obviously any soundbar is going to sound better than your TV’s built in speakers. Your tv most likely just has a pair of downward firing speakers that bounce sound off of the table, they don't get all that loud and at higher volumes, the bass becomes a rattling mess. And this is because, since TV’s are getting thinner and thinner, the built in speakers need to get smaller as well.
However, if you were to use a more premium TV like the LG OLED EVO C3… your tv’s built in speakers are going to sound and preform better than your more affordable TV. The speakers on the C3’s get decently loud, and distortion isn’t an issue even at max volume. However, the C3’s built in speakers are really only going to be good for hearing dialog.
However, if you were to use a system like the LG Soundbar S95QR, first off, since the S95QR has an external subwoofer, you’re going to have a lot more bass now… and you’re going to be able to feel what’s actually happening on the screen, which is going to give you a lot more immersion when you’re watching your movies.
But also, your audio is going to sound a lot more open because you have sound coming from the front and you also have sound coming from the back thanks to the rear satellite speakers. But specifically with this system, you’re going have a much better sense of verticality and room filling audio cause there are a total of 5 upwards firing drivers. And this improved sense of verticality and better room filling audio is going to give you a better DOLBY ATMOS and DTS:X experience.
Now what DOLBY Atmos and DTS:X are, they’re an audio format that allows creators to place sounds in a 3 dimensional space… so they can make it sound like there are things flying above above you… instead of having all of your audio coming from a single flat plane. So again, this is just going to add to a better sense of immersions.
But finally there’s just max volume performance, the S95QR puts out a total of 810 Watts of power… so it get extremely loud… its literally going to have no problem filling a whole house with sound. And personally for me, whenever I watch movies or tv with system… I never have to go past 35 percent volume… just cause it gets that loud.
Now the S95QR is a very impressive home theater system all on its own and its is a great addition to any tv… however, if you were to use this LG Soundbar with an LG TV, you are going to get some extra benefits. First off, you are going to get support for WOW Orchestra, where your TV’s built in speakers are going to help you get an even more defined center channel which is usually going to make it a lot easier to hear and understand dialog.
But also, if you use your S95QR with an LG TV… then the S95QR is going the use the Alpha 9 AI processor found inside of your tv to automatically optimize its sound to whatever you’re watching. And also, your max volume performance is going to be better because your tv is going to be supporting your soundbar.
But with all of that being said, the LG Soundbar S95QR is a very powerful and impressive home theater system that first off gets extremely loud and has a lot of bass to it, which is great for immersion. But thanks to its rear satellite speakers and 5 upwards firing drivers, the S95QR offers great instrument separation, room filling sound, and a great sense of verticality which is really going to elevate your DOLBY ATMOS and or DTS:X Experience. The LG Soundbar S95QR is a great option for any TV.
However, if you want to get an even better experience out of the S95QR… then it is recommend that you use it with a compatible LG TV like the LG OLED EVO C3 like we did today. If you use the S95QR with an LG Tv, then you’re going to have access to WOW Orchestra where your TV’s built in speakers will work in conjunction with your soundbar and give you a stronger center channel. And you’re also going to have access to the wow interface where you will be able to easily access all of your soundbar’s settings directly from the TV itself. And if you use the S95QR with an LG TV… then its going to use your TV’s Alpha 9 AI Processor to automatically optimize its sound for whatever you’re watching.
