So these are the JBL Partylight Stick And JBL Partylight Beam and these are basically light features that are going to help extend your partybox’s already very impressive built in light features. Now these Partylights will work with any speaker out there… however, for the best experience you do want to use them with a Partybox… namely one of the newer ones that are using Auracast. Nonetheless lets see what the Partylight Stick and Partylight Beam are all about cause I really wasn’t expecting these things.

Now the Partylight Stick has a retail price of $100… and the Partylight Beam has a retail price of $150. And with these lights, I feel that their main selling point, besides looks is their convince. Nonetheless if you want to pick these lights up they’ll be linked down below or you can always press on the YouTube shopping button.

So first theres the Partylight stick, now this thing is basically a light saber… we’ve got an RGB blade, and we’ve got an RGB Beam light on the bottom, and there’s also a circular base that is easy to attach without any tools. Overall this stick is very light… however you do want to be careful when you transport it. Now this light stick has 3 buttons, theres a power button, an aura cast button and a button to change your light feature. But also, there is a USB C port for chargning cause this light stick does have a built in battery. And this stick also comes with a USB C to USB C chargning cable, a first for JBL… but unfortunately there is no wall adaptor.

Now JBL claims that this built in battery is going to be good for 8 hours… battery life on this light is really going to vary depending on the light mode that you’re using, and at what brightness you have it set at. Now you can either change the light mode of this stick directly from the stick it self, or you can just open the JBL Partybox app. And the really nice thing here is, you dont have to connect this lights to your phone using bluetooth. You just turn them on and they show up on the app. But regardless from here you can choose from different lighting modes just like with your partybox… you can also adjust the speed of your lighting more and you can also adjust the brightness. But a pro tip that I do have is, if you turn on the backlight on these lights, that is going to make them brighter, but thats also going to drain you battery faster. So again, JBL claims that these lights are going to be good for 8 hours… but battery life really varies depending on what light mode youre using and what brightness you set up at.

But the good thing here is, this light sticks charge up very fast, and to see your battery life, when you power these lights on you’re going to see a measure of your battery in white, similar to JBL’s speakers. So with the built in battery on these sticks you’re going to have to freedom to place them where ever you want… and if they do run out of battery, they are easy and fast to charge.

But then theres the Partylight Beam, and sadly this thing does not have a built in battery. It would have been so dope if it did cause that is what I was expecting when I got it, but it doesn’t. Instead you have to plug this thing in via the AC port on the back. And also, this light is not motorized… so placing this light is more limiting, and even though the light feature looks good, its not as dynamic as I was hoping for. But again from JBL Partybox App you can in and choose from a few different lighting modes, you can change the speed of this light and you can also change the brightness. And again, this light just shows up in your partybox app without having to connect to it using Bluetooth.

Now when it comes to compatibility, both the Partylight Stick and the Partylight Beam can be used with any speaker out there cause they have built in microphones. So these lights will just react to whatever sound is around them. Or for a better experience, you can sync these lights up with a partybox speaker thats using aura cast like either a Partybox 120, Partybox 320 or Partybox Ultimate… or even a JBL Xtreme 4, Clip 5, or Go 4, cause those speakers are also using aura cast.

Now when used with a newer partybox that has aura cast, basscily these lights will sync up with your speaker’s light features. Which is nice. So if you manually scroll through the different lighting modes with the knobs on your speaker, these lights will change as well… or again you can use the app. The only thing that I feel that is missing is, I wish these light would also turn off when you turn off the lights on your partybox… I just feel that this minor detail could be a big deal if you’re trying to have a surprise party. So hopefully JBL will add that through a future firmware update.

But also, I do have to point out that if you have an older partybox thats using TWS like lets say the Partybox 110, 310, or 710… these lights won’t sync up with your speaker like they would with your newer Partybox… so you’re going to have to use the built in mic for these lights can be in sync… meaning that your lights aren’t going to be matched up… I know its awful dealing with these first world problems.

So with all of that being said, the JBL Partylight Stick and Partylight Beam are super simple to use. You lithely just power them on and they are good to go. Now these lights will work with any speaker out there cause they have built in mics that will react to whatever music you’re playing… but for the best experience you want to use them with a partybox thats using Auracast cause you’re lights are all going to be in sync. Now personally, I like the Partylight stick, they look good, they’re super easy to use, and thanks to their built in batteries you can place them wherever you want. They’re a fun addition to your Partybox. But the Partylight Beam… I am a little underwhelmed. This Beam light is fixed, which is fine given the price and size of this Beam light… however I really expected this Beam light to have a built in battery. JBL’s Partybox line up is all about bringing the partybox anywhere you want… and sadly, since the Beam light has to be used while its plugged in, its extremely limiting and itsnt as flexible as JBL’s Partyboxes.
