So this is the new Sony XG300, it looks like a miniature XG500 and it has a built in retractable carrying handle… and that’s pretty much the only upgrade on this speaker over its predecessor… the Sony XB43. Nonetheless, if you’re thinking about getting the XG300 or if you’re thinking about upgrading, lets see what the XG300 is all about.
So if you’re in the market for a large portable bluetooth speaker then chances are you’re probably either looking at the JBL Xtreme 3 or the Sony XB43… 2 very popular speakers that have been updated for 2020. Now even though at the end of the day these are just speakers… they are very different from one another. And depending on your needs you’ll be better off with one over the other. So the common thread across all of Sony’s new portable bluetooth speaker line up is that all of these speakers sound significantly better than their predecessors. Which ultimately thats great cause sound is obviously a very important thing to take into consideration when you’re looking into get a bluetooth speaker. So the new Sony XB43 has gotten an all new speaker set up which is very similar to the speaker set up that you’ll find on the JBL Xtreme 2 which is a very popular large portable bluetooth speaker and I still very much highly recommend it. Now even though the new XB43 does sound noticeably better than their predecessor… the Sony XB41. Lets see how the XB43 stacks up to the JBL Xtreme 2.
Even though the new Sony XB43 has some really meaningful upgrades like an all new speaker set up which genuinely does sound better and it now has USB C charging which does make life a little easier. I can’t help but feel that performance wise this speaker does leave you wanting more and its not as big of an upgrade as I would like when compared to the XB41.
