So this is the new Sony XE300, not to be confused with the Sony XG300. Now unlike the Sony XG300 which does have some upgrades to it that help it be a better portable bluetooth speaker over its predecessor… the XB43… the XE300 is just an overall downgrade from the XB33. So the JBL Flip 6 truly is a great little bluetooth speaker. Thanks to its new speaker set up which consists of a pair of dual passive radiators, a woofer, and a tweeter… the flip 6 really does sound great in a very compact package. But today, we’re going to see if its worth upgrading from the Flip 6 to the larger JBL Charge 5… and we’re also going to see how the Flip 6 stacks up to the Sony XB33.
So the new Bose Soundlink Flex is a great portable bluetooth speaker from Bose that quite frankly just sounds way better than its direct competitors the JBL Flip 5 and Sony XB23. However… the Bose Flex does have a price premium to it and at first glance you’ll might think that its direct competitors are really the JBL Charge 5 and Sony XB33. But they’re really not. Both the new JBL Charge 5 and Sony XB33 are rocking all new speaker set ups from their predecessors. Specifically the Charge 5 is rocking a new tweeter over the Charge 4 where as the XB33’s speaker set up is drastically different from its predecessors cause it has new triangular drivers and passive radiators that shoot out its sides. Now both of these speakers sound good but if you’re looking into getting a mid sized speaker lets see which’s ones right for you cause the Charge 5 and XB33 do have some crucial differences.
So the common thread across all of Sony’s new portable bluetooth speaker line up is that all of these speakers sound significantly better than their predecessors. Which ultimately thats great cause sound is obviously a very important thing to take into consideration when you’re looking into get a bluetooth speaker. But today we’re going to break down the new XB43, XB33 and XB23 cause deepening on your needs one is going to be better than the other for you.
I really like the new Sony XB33 cause the new Sony XB33 sounds significantly better than its predecessor the Sony XB32. Specifically, the XB33 has much better instrument separation and a much wider soundstage. But naturally people want to know how the XB33 stacks up to the JBL Charge 4 and the JBL Pulse 4. And ultimately each of these speakers out perform every one of these other speakers in one specific category. So depending on your needs one is going to be better than the other.
Out of Sony’s new portable bluetooth speaker line up for 2020, I think the new XB33 has gotten the all around best upgrade. I like that the XB33 has gone back to an XB31 design aesthetic which makes it much more durable than the XB32, the XB33 sounds way better than the XB32, and unlike the XB43… the XB33 gets decently loud for both its size and price.
